Can I control which photos are backed up?

Yes! Though Shoebox does run an automatic backup, you can control which photos you'd like to backup to Shoebox (with a few exceptions).

On Android we backup all photos in the folders you have configured in your "Sync Settings". To add or remove a sync folders:

  1. Open the Shoebox app on your android phone and tap the top left hamburger menu icon.
  2. Tap “Settings”.
  3. Tap “SYNC”.
  4. GO to Edit Sync Folders and tap "Add Folder". From here you will be presented with the folder selection screen for Android.
  5. Tap the top left menu icon and see if you can track down the folder with the photos/videos you wish to backup to Shoebox.
  6. Once you do so, tap ‘Select’ to add this folder to Shoebox and then all the photos inside that folder should proceed to sync to your Shoebox account.

On our desktop apps for Mac or Windows we backup all photos in the folders you have configured in your "Sync Settings". To add or remove a folder:

  1. Open the Shoebox app on your Mac or PC (that you've downloaded here).
  2. Select "Settings".
  3. Select "Change Sync Folders".
  4. Click on “Backup my "Pictures" folder” to select the default photos folder on your computer. Once you do so, tap “Save” and all the photos inside that folder should proceed to sync to your Shoebox account.
  5. Click on "Custom sync folders" then click on "Add Folder" to track down the custom folders with the photos you wish to back up to Shoebox. Once you do so, tap “Save” and all the photos inside that folder should proceed to sync to your Shoebox account.

On iPhone and ipad, unlike the other platforms, you can not select which folders to backup to Shoebox. Apple doesn't support folders, so your entire camera roll is backed up.
